About

I grew up in a factory town in New England. It had creaky houses, a beautiful lake, and lots of quirky people. My grandfather taught me a love of reading at a young age. He let me take out as many books as I wanted on his library card, since kids were limited to a measly three.

After college, where I majored in English and theater, I moved to the Boston area and ran drama workshops for kids. Whether a session lasted six weeks or six months, the students put on a show on the last day. Sometimes the shortest rehearsal period resulted in the most creative performance, although the adults I promoted from audience members to actors/space aliens during a flu outbreak may disagree.

Along the way, I earned an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College, and was head reader and a judge for several cycles of a regional playwriting competition. I’ve also been an Audie judge.

I live in a coastal town now. It’s bigger than the town I grew up in but there’s plenty of local color here too. I’ve seen monarch butterflies taking a break at the beach while migrating, North Atlantic right whales swimming twenty feet from shore, and people plunging into the frigid ocean in January. It’s a fun place to live, and I hope to share some of its flavor in my writing.
